Executive Commitee and Governing Council

WATUN is governed by an elected Executive Committee which meets on a regular basis and makes the primary operational decisions for WATUN. The current Committee was elected at the first International Congress meeting in September 2009 in Mexico City. In addition to our regular members, Lucy Webster and David Lionel participate as Advisors to the Executive Committee and Johnanne Winchester as an interim advisor.

Rob Wheeler, Chair
I have participated actively in UN processes and activities for fifteen years. While the United Nations does much good in the world, it needs to be significantly strengthened and democratized so that it is able to take sufficient action to solve our primary global problems. It is unacceptable that the UN Member States repeatedly fail to live up to the mandates and obligations of the Charter and the global agreements and commitments they make, especially when millions of lives are at stake.

Rob's Bio: Rob Wheeler has participated actively in UN Reform processes and activities for 16 years. He served on the Executive Committee of the UN Millennium NGO Forum for three years and on the International Steering Committee for the World Civil Society Forum. He represents the Association of World Citizens, Global Ecovillage Network, and US Citizens Network for Sustainable Development at the United Nations.
Rob is an elected Delegate and the President of the Peoples Congress. He is also a Core Team Member and Process and Content Coordinator of the World Transforming Initiatives; and was the primary NGO Representative on UN Habitat's Initiative on Access to Basic Services for All.

I am a humble world citizen who believes we have had enough nationalism, and not enough Internationalism ergo globalism.

I believe world peace is only possible through global order and justice. Furthermore, I believe this can be achieved by democratically elected government institutions, culminating in a DEMOCRATIC WORLD FEDERATION!

I am a Citizen of the world who as Corporate Lawyer received much benefits of the Establishment.

I believe that I should return part of my wealth and knowledge for a better world through the Review of the UN Charter and a World Parliament according to the right of self determination of people.
